Long term care is designed for residents unable to live independently.
Our focus is to preserve independence through individualised social, recreational, occupational therapy and physiotherapy programmes – enhancing the quality of life of our valued residents.

Residents’ mental health and wellbeing are promoted through creative and individualised care programmes designed to maximise the resident’s abilities.

The Director of Nursing and care staff drive opportunities for intimate and meaningful connections to be built around residents of Abbot Close Care Centre within the community we serve.
Social Life
Our unique approach to planning social events starts by finding out what our residents like to do. We arrange individual and group outings into the community and further afield to suit all interests. Social outings and trips are a big part of our schedule; some favourites include trips to Bunratty Castle and the Donkey Sanctuary.

Testimonials
My experience and stay in Abbot Close comes as a result of severe orthopaedic fracture. I am in my forties and was taken from hospital to Abbot Close for convalescence. Despite my initial anxiety my experience over the past four weeks has been nothing but positive. I have another month here, which includes Christmas and New Year, and I couldn’t;t be in a safer more comfortable and friendlier place.
From the day I arrived here into a lovely, open and airy foyer I have received the very best of care and kindness from. every member of staff. My needs have been fully met. The staff are very attentive and pleasant and have made the days easier to get through. I take part in the arts and craft sessions twice a week and thoroughly enjoy the after ad interesting tasks.
My room is most comfortable, warm and spacious. I have television, plenty of wardrobe space and a very well suited and comfortable bed. Every member of staff has endeavoured to do the best they possibly can to make every day a safe and happy one.
I enjoy going out shopping with residents and staff, always very well organised and managed. I have my own healthy dietary requirements and the food prepared every day is exceptionally good. The chefs cook beautiful fresh fish, just delicious. I eat either in my room or in the dining room, whichever I prefer on a given day, and am well accommodated in both.
There is always a pleasant and upbeat atmosphere in the home. Although missing home Abbot Close does it’s very best to create a happy place for residents, their families and visitors.
