Clarinbridge Care Centre – One of the Leading Nursing Homes in Galway
Exceptional, Person-Centred Care in a Scenic and Supportive Environment
Clarinbridge Care Centre, part of the award-winning Windmill Healthcare Group, is one of the most trusted and established nursing homes in Galway. Located just 10 minutes from the village of Clarinbridge and 30 minutes from Galway City, our purpose-built care centre is surrounded by the coastal beauty of south County Galway.
For over 40 years, Windmill Healthcare has led the way in Irish elder care. Clarinbridge Care Centre continues that legacy by delivering high standard care through a person-centred approach that prioritises dignity, independence, and quality of life. Whether you or a loved one require long term care, dementia support, respite stays, or complex rehabilitation, Clarinbridge offers a warm, professional, and homely environment.
Accommodation & Living Spaces
Each resident’s comfort is our highest priority. Our bedrooms are bright, peaceful, and tastefully decorated using calming colours and soft furnishings. Many rooms have direct access to private gardens or overlook our landscaped courtyard, offering tranquil views and a natural connection to the outdoors.
All bedrooms feature an en-suite bathroom, nurse call system, telephone access, and multi-channel TV . The home’s layout includes elegant day rooms, a spacious dining room where residents gather for nutritious meals, and a beautiful Peace Room for private worship and reflection. We also provide a scenic walkway through our Grotto — a place where families and residents can enjoy quiet moments together.
Our care centre includes many homely features: a cosy library, peaceful sensory room, and even a resident-run polytunnel garden where those with green fingers can grow flowers, herbs, and vegetables used in our kitchen.
RESIDENTS’ POLYTUNNEL
Our polytunnel garden is a hive of activity for residents with green fingers. They plant and harvest vegetables and herbs which are used in the kitchen for resident meals. Their favourite flowers are also grown in abundance.
Our Care Services
Respite Care and Recovery Services
Our respite care programme is ideal for short-term stays — whether for rehabilitation following surgery or illness, or to allow family caregivers time to rest and recharge. Respite residents receive the same high standard of accommodation, personal care, medical attention, and access to all activities and therapies during their stay.
Our team carefully develops a short-term care plan for every respite guest to support recovery goals, emotional wellbeing, and social inclusion during their time with us.
Long Term Residential Care in Galway
Clarinbridge Care Centre provides long term care to residents who can no longer live independently. We work to maintain and support independence for as long as possible through therapeutic programmes and social engagement. With access to a high standard of nursing care and allied health services, residents enjoy a vibrant and fulfilling lifestyle in a safe and structured setting.
Whether someone is with us for several months or many years, our commitment is to consistently enhance their quality of life through compassion, professionalism, and dignity.
Complex and Specialist Care
Clarinbridge Care Centre is a recognised centre of excellence for residents with complex care needs. We cater to individuals with intellectual disabilities, neurological conditions, or mental health challenges who require a more tailored, high-support environment.
Our nurses are trained in psychiatry, gerontology, and intellectual disability care. Our support staff is trained to work with residents who have complex physical, psychological, or emotional needs. With a well-developed care plan at the core of every case, we ensure each resident’s wellbeing is proactively managed.
Meadowview Rehabilitation Programme
For younger residents living with brain or spinal injuries, our Meadowview Rehabilitation Programme offers a unique, person centred approach to recovery. Residents may join us following stroke, traumatic injury, accident, or progressive neurological conditions.
Developed in partnership with the National Rehabilitation Hospital and Disability Services, our programme includes input from senior physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and specialist nursing teams. We support each resident’s personal goals for function, mobility, and quality of life through a structured, goal-oriented care plan.

A Dedicated Care Team Focused on Quality of Life
Our experienced team is led by our Director of Nursing, Chris Finnerty and includes staff nurses, healthcare assistants, an activity coordinator, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, catering, and housekeeping staff. We also partner with practitioner allied healthcare professionals such as speech therapists, chiropodists, dentists, and dietitians.
The heart of our ethos is person-centred care. This means that every resident is treated as an individual with their own story, needs, and preferences. Each resident receives a personalised care plan — a roadmap created in consultation with the resident, family members, and our multidisciplinary care team — to support their wellbeing across every aspect of daily life.
Health & Wellbeing
We strive to promote an optimal quality of life through a progressive approach to residents’ social and spiritual care. The Director of Nursing and care staff drive opportunities for intimate and meaningful connections to be built around residents of Clarinbridge Care Centre within the community we serve.
Social Life
At Clarinbridge, life is full of colour, creativity, and connection. We know that joy, purpose, and social inclusion are vital to wellbeing, and that’s why our activity coordinator crafts a full programme of events that reflect each resident’s unique interests.
Residents enjoy art classes, music therapy, dancing, pet visits, group games, and spiritual services including weekly Mass. We also host seasonal events such as summer barbecues, coffee shop mornings with family, and our popular Annual Boccia Tournament, where local community groups are invited to compete.
Outings are a regular feature — whether it’s a shopping trip, swimming session, or simply a drive along the scenic Galway coast. Our minibus service ensures residents stay connected to Galway City and local community groups they’ve long been part of.

Testimonials
“I knew I couldn’t bring him home. Social care in the hospital told us about Clarinbridge. Now that he is here it is not a nursing home, it is a home. I never thought I would be in this situation and I never knew a place like this is here”
“It was the hardest decision ever to agree to a nursing home but I wouldn’t change it for the world. This is where his life is and he is part of a community”
Rooted in Our Community
For many of our residents, Clarinbridge Care Centre is just minutes from the communities where they’ve lived and contributed for decades. Our goal is to ensure that this connection remains strong.
We proudly describe ourselves as a community within the community. Residents are actively involved in local initiatives, and our doors are always open to families, volunteers, and community groups. Our care centre has served families in Galway for years — and we honour that trust every single day.
