Our Care Services

Respite Care Services

We understand that caregivers also need care. Our respite care service offers short-term stays for individuals recovering from surgery, illness, or hospitalisation — or to provide family carers with a well-earned break. Respite residents enjoy the same high standard of accommodation, healthcare, and activities as our long-term residents, while their loved ones gain peace of mind knowing they are in safe, professional hands.

Whether for a few days or several weeks, our respite care programme supports recovery, relaxation, and reconnection in a compassionate, comfortable setting.

Long-Term Residential Care

Our residential care services are tailored for individuals who can no longer live independently. Each resident receives a personalised care plan designed to preserve independence, promote dignity, and improve quality of life. We deliver 24-hour nursing care alongside a rich programme of social, recreational, occupational, and physiotherapy activities.

Residents benefit from the stability of living in a vibrant, nurturing environment where every need is understood and respected. Our experienced team builds lasting connections with residents and their families, creating a true sense of home and community.

Rehabilitation & Complex Care

Abbot Close Care Centre provides rehabilitation and complex care services for residents with high-dependency needs, including those recovering from stroke, surgery, or traumatic injuries. We specialise in supporting individuals living with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and other neurological or physical challenges.

Residents with complex needs receive round-the-clock attention from nurses trained in intellectual disability, gerontology, and psychiatry. Each resident’s care plan is tailored to their unique needs and capabilities, promoting autonomy, restoring function, and enhancing emotional wellbeing. Our activity coordinator and social care practitioner work hand-in-hand with our nursing and therapeutic teams to develop creative, individualised care programmes.

Dementia Care in ‘The Abbey’

Our specialist dementia wing, known as The Abbey, offers a secure and enriching environment for residents living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of cognitive impairment. Staff leading The Abbey have undertaken extensive training in advances in dementia care and continue to update their skills through ongoing professional development.

This dedicated unit offers individualised care based on best-practice dementia models, with a strong focus on familiarity, routine, and stimulation. Creative therapies, reminiscence activities, sensory engagement, and personal connection are at the core of our dementia care approach. We also work closely with the HSE and other agencies to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained.

Testimonials

My experience and stay in Abbot Close comes as a result of severe orthopaedic fracture. I am in my forties and was taken from hospital to Abbot Close for convalescence. Despite my initial anxiety my experience over the past four weeks has been nothing but positive. I have another month here, which includes Christmas and New Year, and I couldn’t;t be in a safer more comfortable and friendlier place.

My room is most comfortable, warm and spacious. I have television, plenty of wardrobe space and a very well suited and comfortable bed. Every member of staff has endeavoured to do the best they possibly can to make every day a safe and happy one.

Resident

I enjoy going out shopping with residents and staff, always very well organised and managed. I have my own healthy dietary requirements and the food prepared every day is exceptionally good. The chefs cook beautiful fresh fish, just delicious. I eat either in my room or in the dining room, whichever I prefer on a given day, and am well accommodated in both.
